Follow these simple steps to get started with Dal Nulla. ## Prerequisites Before you begin, ensure you have: 1. A verified Dal Nulla account. 2. Active credits in your balance (new accounts get free starter credits). ## Creating Your First Project Dal Nulla focuses on a prompt-first creation flow. To start a new project: 1. Navigate to your **Dashboard** (the main page after logging in). 2. You will see a large input field asking **"What will your next video be like?"**. 3. You will see a **Scene Node** and potentially a **Reference Image** node being generated based on your prompt. 2. You can add more scenes by clicking the **"Autofill Storyboard"** (sparkles icon) in the floating sidebar or by manually adding nodes. 3. It holds all your generated videos, reference images, and the node graph structure that connects them. ## Accessing Projects Your projects are listed on the **Dashboard** immediately after you log in. - Each project card displays a preview (video or thumbnail) and the project title. - Click on any card to open the project in the **Graph Editor**. ## Creating a Project There is no "New Project" button in the traditional sense. To create a new project: 1. Go to the **Dashboard**. 2. Use the **Prompt Input** at the top of the page. 3. Enter your idea and click **Generate Video**. This streamlines the process, jumping straight from idea to creation. ## Project Settings Within the Editor, you can change the **Project Title** by clicking on the title in the top bar. You can also adjust the aspect ratio for new generations via the settings panel (if available) or by selecting specific nodes. --- # Scenes **Scenes** are the fundamental units of your video project in Dal Nulla. Represented as nodes in the Graph Editor, each scene generates a video clip based on your text prompt and connected references. ## Inspector Controls When you select a Scene Node, the **Inspector Panel** on the right allows you to fine-tune the generation: ### 1. Prompt - **Input**: A text area to describe the action, style, and content of the video scene. - **Linked Prompt**: If a Text Node is connected, its content appears here. You can **Detach** it to edit the prompt independently or **Expand** the editor for more space. ### 2. Negative Prompt - **Input**: Specify what you *don't* want to see in the video (e.g., "blur", "distortion", "text"). ### 3. Generation Settings - **Model**: Choose between **Pro** (higher quality) and **Fast** (quicker generation). *Note: The 'Fast' model may not support reference images.* - **Duration**: Select the length of the video clip (e.g., 2s, 4s). - **Resolution**: Set the output resolution (720p, 1080p). - **Aspect Ratio**: Define the video's aspect ratio (16:9, 9:16, etc.). ### 4. Media Inputs (Modes) Use the toggle to switch between two ways of controlling visuals: - **Refs (References)**: - Allows connecting up to **3 Reference Images**. - The AI blends these images to influence the style and content. - **Frames**: - Allows setting a specific **Start Frame** and/or **End Frame**. - The AI animates the transition between these exact images. - *Note: Switching to Frames mode limits you to 2 inputs.* ### 5. Context Settings - **Use Project Global Context**: A checkbox to opt-in/out of the project's global text and reference nodes. Uncheck this if you want the scene to be completely independent of the rest of the story. ### 6. Version History - **History List**: Every time you generate a scene, the previous version is saved here. - **Restore**: Click a history item to revert the scene to that specific video and prompt. ## Actions - **Generate Scene**: Starts the AI video generation process. - **Download Video**: Saves the current video clip to your device. - **Delete Scene**: Removes the node from the canvas. ## Media Modes Scenes have two distinct modes for handling visual inputs. You can toggle between them using the selector at the top of the node card. ### 1. References Mode (Refs) This is the default mode. It allows you to attach **Reference Image Nodes** to guide the style, character, or setting of the generated video. - **Limit**: You can connect up to **3** Reference Images per scene. - **Behavior**: The AI uses these images as a loose guide. It attempts to blend the concepts or style from the references into the final video. - **Connection**: Drag from a Reference Image Node's `+` handle to the Scene Node's left `+` handle. ### 2. Frames Mode (Frames) This mode gives you precise control over the motion and transition of the video by specifying the exact starting and/or ending image. - **Inputs**: You can set a **Start Frame** and an **End Frame**. - **Limit**: Supports maximum **2** images (one for start, one for end). - **Behavior**: - **Start Frame**: The video will begin exactly with this image. - **End Frame**: The video will end exactly with this image. - **Switching**: If you switch from 'Refs' to 'Frames' mode while having 3 references connected, the system will warn you that the third reference will be disconnected, as Frames mode only supports 2 inputs (Start/End). ## Generating a Scene 1. **Add a Node**: Press `S` on your keyboard or use the "Add Item" menu to place a new Scene Node. 2. **Enter Prompt**: Click on the node (or its connected Text Node) and type a description. 3. **Connect References (Optional)**: Link up to 3 reference images (in Refs mode) or set Start/End frames (in Frames mode). 4. **Generate**: Click the generate button (often implicitly handled via the "Autofill" or specific run controls depending on the current UI version). ## Global Context By default, Scene Nodes respect **Global** Text Nodes and Reference Images. This means if you have a global "Character Bio" text node, the scene will automatically be aware of it without a direct connection. - **Opt-Out**: Scenes have an `ignoreGlobalContext` property (internal) that can be toggled if you want a specific scene to be completely independent of the global project context. --- # Reference Images **Reference Image Nodes** allow you to influence the visual style or content of your generated scenes. They act as visual anchors, ensuring consistency across your video project. ## Inspector Controls When you select a Reference Image Node, the **Inspector Panel** on the right provides the following controls: ### 1. Generation Prompt - **Input**: A text area to describe the image you want to generate. - **Linked Prompt**: If you have connected a Text Node to this Reference Node, this area will show the linked content. You can click **Detach** to break the link and edit the prompt manually. ### 2. Output Settings - **Aspect Ratio**: Choose the dimensions of the generated image (e.g., 16:9 Landscape, 9:16 Portrait, 1:1 Square). - **Resolution**: Select the quality (1K, 2K, 4K). ### 3. Context Settings - **Global Context Source**: A checkbox to mark this image as **Global**. When enabled, this image is automatically used as a reference for *every* other scene in the project (unless they opt-out). Use this for main characters or consistent environments. - **Use Project Global Context**: A checkbox to determine if *this* image generation should respect other global text/images in the project. ### 4. Source Images - If you want to create a variation of another image (Image-to-Image), you can connect up to **3 source images** to this node. They will appear here with options to remove them. ### 5. Actions - **Regenerate / Cancel**: Start or stop the image generation process. - **Delete Reference**: Removes the node from the canvas. ## Connecting to Scenes To use a reference image in a video scene: 1. Drag from the **Right (+)** handle of the Reference Image Node. 2. Drop the connection onto the **Left (+)** handle of a **Scene Node**. 3. The scene will now use this image as a style/content guide. > **Tip:** You can also connect a Reference Image to *another* Reference Image Node to create variations or refine a style. --- # Text Nodes **Text Nodes** act as the narrative brain of your project. They hold scripts, prompts, and context data that can be fed into other nodes. ## Inspector Controls When you select a Text Node, the **Inspector Panel** offers these controls: ### 1. Prompt Instruction - **Input**: A text area where you write instructions for the AI (e.g., "Write a character description for a cyberpunk detective"). - Unlike Scene/Image nodes, this prompt is often a *meta-prompt* used to generate the actual content of the node. ### 2. Model Settings - **Model**: Choose the AI text model (e.g., **Pro** vs **Fast**) to determine the quality and speed of the text generation. ### 3. Context Settings - **Use as Global Context**: A crucial checkbox. When enabled, the *content* of this text node becomes "Global". - **Global Context**: Means every Scene and Reference Image node in the project will automatically "read" this text before generating, ensuring narrative consistency (e.g., character names, setting rules). ### 4. Generated Result - **Read-only View**: Displays the text content generated by the AI based on your instruction. This is the actual text that gets sent to connected nodes. ### 5. Actions - **Generate Text**: Runs the AI to fill the node with content based on your instruction. - **Delete Text Node**: Removes the node from the canvas. ## Workflow Tips - **Scripts**: Create a Text Node for your script, generate the dialogue/action, and then connect it to a Scene Node to visualize that exact moment. - **World Bible**: Create a Global Text Node with "World Rules" (e.g., "The sky is always purple") to ensure every generated asset follows your lore. --- # AI Autofill (Autopilot) Dal Nulla's **AI Autofill** (also referred to as **Autopilot**) is a powerful feature that allows you to rapidly prototype an entire video concept from a single text prompt. Instead of building your storyboard scene-by-scene, the AI does the initial heavy lifting, generating a structured project for you. ## How it Works When you provide a high-level idea to Autofill, the AI performs several steps: 1. **Idea Analysis**: It interprets your main concept and identifies key narrative beats or visual elements. 2. **Scene Breakdown**: It breaks down your idea into a series of distinct **Scene Nodes** for the video timeline. 3. **Context Generation**: It often creates **Global Text Nodes** for overall project context (e.g., "Global Context", "Characters") and **Reference Image Nodes** to establish visual themes or characters. 4. **Automatic Connections**: The AI intelligently connects these generated nodes in the **Graph Editor**: - Text Nodes might be linked to Scene Nodes as prompt sources. - Reference Image Nodes are often linked to Scene Nodes as visual references. ## Using AI Autofill 1. **From the Dashboard**: - Enter your video idea into the main prompt input field. - Select your desired **Aspect Ratio** and **Generation Mode** (e.g., "Split" for a multi-scene storyboard). - Click **"Generate Video"**. 2. **From the Editor**: - Click the **Autofill Storyboard** (sparkles ✨ icon) in the floating sidebar menu on the left. - Enter a prompt describing the storyboard you want. - The AI will then generate and populate your canvas with new nodes. ## What You Get After running Autofill, your **Graph Editor** canvas will be transformed with: - **Multiple Scene Nodes**: Each representing a distinct part of your story, often with initial prompts already filled. - **Reference Image Nodes**: Visual elements (like character concepts or key objects) that serve as inputs for your scenes. - **Text Nodes**: Providing narrative context, character descriptions, or dialogue for your scenes. These may include **Global Text Nodes** that influence the entire project. - **Interconnected Graph**: The nodes will be pre-connected, forming a coherent visual flow that you can then further refine and customize.
